Please see Ordinance as adopted by the Windsor Charter Township Board of<br>Trustees (\u201cTownship Board\u201d) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-A-TOWNSHIP-ORDINANCE.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"717\">Ordinance<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Please note that this jurisdiction <strong>DOES NOT<\/strong> include the Village of Dimondale.&nbsp; Please see the attached list of parcels in both the Township and Village.&nbsp; This <a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/TOWNSHIP-VILLAGE-LIST-PDF.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"753\">document<\/a> is a searchable PDF to assist in discerning whether a parcel is within the Township or Village and which jurisdiction is applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The Building Department is available in person from <strong>9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.<\/strong> on Tuesday\u2019s at <strong>300<br>W. Jefferson St. (Rear entrance, behind Windsor Township Emergency Services Building.)<\/strong><br>The Building Department can be reached during and outside those hours by dialing <strong>517.919.1566<\/strong> and select option #5, If you reach our voicemail, please leave a message and we will return your call within 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you are calling to schedule an inspection for an approved permit, please leave your name, the<br>property address where work is being conducted, the permit number, and any additional<br>information. You will receive a return telephone call confirming what day the inspection is<br>anticipated to occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Building Department can also be reached via email at <strong>windsorbuildingdept@gmail.com.<\/strong> If<br>scheduling an inspection via email, please note in the subject line the property address where<br>work is being conducted and the permit number. You will receive a reply via email or a return<br>call confirming what day the inspection is anticipated to occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work covered under the Michigan Building Code<br>is not to be commenced without approval of permit and inspection of work performed under said<br>permit. A fee schedule was adopted by the Windsor Charter<br>Township Board of Trustees (\u201cTownship Board\u201d). The fee schedule is reviewed annually and<br>may be adjusted by the Township Board. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-F-FEE-SCHEDULE-SIGNED.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"718\">Fee Schedule<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Certain work requires appropriate licensing and therefore licensed individuals are required to<br>complete the permit application. Please see the attached as it concerns appropriate licensing<br>for work to be performed. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-G-LICENSE-REQUIRED-FOR-WORK.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"715\">Licensing<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In order to effectively and efficiently process permit applications for licensed contractors, we ask<br>that licensed individuals register with the Township. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-H-CONTRACTOR-REGISTRATION.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"714\">Registration<\/a> This is not required and no fee is<br>associated with the registration.<\/strong> Non-registered applicants will be asked to produce evidence of<br>appropriate license held for each permit application completed prior to issuance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The permitting and inspection process is the foundation of protecting the public health, safety<br>and welfare for the Township for those construction activities regulated under the Michigan<br>Building Code. Permitting and inspection<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-I-PERMITTING-PROCESS.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"722\">PROCESS<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The attached represents enforcement action that can be taken by the Building Department for<br>work conducted without permit, or work performed by unlicensed individuals. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-J-Violations-and-Unlicensed-Work-070324.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"723\">Enforcement Process<\/a><\/strong><br>Also attached is the Township\u2019s civil infraction Ordinance. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-K-CIVIL-INFRACTION-ORDINANCE.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"721\">Civil Infraction<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In the event that a contractor or homeowner has a complaint regarding an inspector of the<br>Building Department, please follow the process contained herein. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunityservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/ITEM-L-INSPECTOR-EDUCATION-AND-COMPLAINTS.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"724\">Complaints<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In the event that a permit applicant or permit holder disagrees with the decision of the Building<br>Official, inspector or plan reviewer regarding application or interpretation of provisions under the<br>Michigan Building Code or wishes to obtain variation from the Michigan Building Code, the<br>matter may be addressed by the Township\u2019s Construction Board of Appeals.
